Before you go for Booking of Motor Vehicle Inspection, the following are needed;

  • The NTSA Ecitizen payment invoice. You are required to present an original copy of the payment invoice as proof of payment made for motor vehicle inspection. This is done on the actual NTSA portal, the vehicle must be in your Account to be able to book inspection.
  • The vehicle is to be inspected. For a successful inspection to be carried out, you need to present your motor vehicle to be checked.The vehicle may be a commercial vehicle, Truck,Taxi ,Matatu Etc.
  • Present yourself  for inspection to proceed. The inspection is usually conducted in your presence at the chosen inspection Centres

  • You need to click HERE To register Tims account if you do not have any, which will direct you to the e-Register an account  page
  • Sign up as a personal user under the CITIZEN  category
  • Key in Your ID serial Number
  • You need to Provide the details of your mother’s maiden name(Use her first name or second name)
  • Key in your PIN Number
  • Key in  your Phone Number and your profession
  • Proceed to click on the button which is next to the mobile number to get the verification code
  • Fill in your Personal Details
  • Key in  the code that you have been given in the verification tab in order  to finish the process of verification
  • Finish Your Application

How to Book Your Motor Vehicle for the Annual Motor Inspection Booking Process

  1. To start, log in to your Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal to gain access to the inspection services.
  2. Navigate to the vehicle inspection tab in the menu. If you are a new car owner or do not have any registered under your name, there will be no list on your page. So, you can click on “New Car booking” and then fill in your car’s customs entry number. If the logbook is not yet in your name, please ask the company or individual who sold you the car to make the booking for you.
  3. Click the “Annual Booking” tab just below “New Car Booking”.
  4. Enter your vehicle registration number. For those who have had their car inspected before, KRA lists the vehicles under your name in the portal.
  5. Choose the car you wish to be inspected.
  6. Choose your preferred payment method.
  7. Make payments through your preferred money transfer service. TIMS accepts payments made via Airtel Money, Mpesa Transfer, Credit/Debit/Cash, or KCB bank.
  8. Click on the complete button.

Booking the Vehicle for Inspection at NTSA Centre

After you have done the first part, please complete the inspection booking process.

  1. Click on the ‘Booking Tab‘
  2. Select the nearest or your preferred inspection center convenient for your booking.
  3. Pick the time best for you depending on your schedule. The system will indicate the available free time on the database. All slots that are in green are free while red slots indicate dates and times are already booked.
  4. Click on “submit”. You will go back to the vehicle inspection page. Press “detail” to view all your information.
  5. Print the generic inspection booking slip for later use.
  6. Present your vehicle for testing on the date and time you chose on the system. Remember to carry with you the payment invoice and the slip containing the booking information.
