How long does it take to get a Logbook after transfer?. After making an application or “Accept ownership”   of Motorvehicle in Your Tims account, you will need to take the registration documents to your nearest NTSA office for confirmation. These documents include:-

  1. Original Logbook
  2. Invoice for Payment of Transfer fees (Ask the seller to forward Invoice )
  3. Your Original Logbook

After reaching the NTSA office, please head to the reception and ask what is required next for you to be able to proceed. After doing all this make sure you submit the documents at the right counter at NTSA.You will be told the dates to go collect your logbook.

How long does it take to get a Logbook after transfer?

The Logbook printing procedure takes about 2-3 weeks. Applications from all over Kenya are sent to Nairobi Headquarters at NTSA Upperhill. Here the New Logbook is Printed and sent back to the respective office that the application was done. You will receive an SMS on your mobile phone when your Logbook is ready.


If you haven’t Transferred your vehicle yet, here below is a simple procedure of how to Transfer and accept ownership of a motor vehicle in Kenya.

2. Making the logbook transfer

  1. Log in to your Tims Account
  2. Click on vehicle registration to access tab
  3. Click on apply for transfer of ownership
  4. Click on create new button and key in the vehicle registration number
  5. Click on inquire to find information about the vehicle
  6. Then click view to get more information
  7. Upload a scanned copy of the logbook
  8. Key in national ID number if making the transfer as an individual (If transacting as a company, key in PIN number) then click the ADD option
  9. Proceed to security verification, select mobile then enter the verification code that is sent.

Note: Under New Vehicle, the seller should select whether they are individual, company, dealer, or financial institution.

Note: Once the seller clicks SUBMIT, the buyer will receive a notification via SMS that the vehicle has been transferred to them and that they are required to either accept or decline the transfer.

3. Accepting the motor vehicle transfer.

Go to Log in

  1. Click on view to see the vehicle details
  2. Verify using the Code sent via SMS
  3. Key in the verification and either accept or decline the transfer
  4. Submit the application to be sent to NTSA for processing
  5. Your logbook should be ready within seven working days.

Note: If you click on accept, fill in the required information; decline will revert the vehicle back to the owner.
